There are many wonderful health benefits attributed to forest therapy including boosted immune function, improved cardiovascular and respiratory health, attention restoration and a reduction in stress and depression. The practice is inspired by the Japanese shinrin-yoku, which means forest bathing. Forest bathing is a different way of spending time in nature than hiking. Hiking is mostly about going from A to B, and often climbing C, where the focus is more on destination and achievement in terms of distance, height and physical health. A forest bathing is not about this, but about the process and acceptance. The guide gives invitations to connect to our several senses, which helps to feel more present and slow down, to enjoy the moment and the nature even more dieper, and experience the place in a more embodied way. The guide is an environmental scientist and certified person with two years of experience in the Rocky Mountains of USA, Japan, Belgium and now also in Norway. This experience is for people interested in getting to know the place in a different, slower way, themselves and others with the same interest.
